I have been a fan of Mr. Barnes’s midi sequences since finding them in midi newsgroups back in the nineties. I lost many of the sequences because of a computer crash. The threat of lawsuits seems to have stopped many people from posting midi compositions so I was a blue person for a long time. Then, on a whim I used a search engine to "find" D.W. Barnes and found this site with all my old favorites. Life is good. I hope to someday meet the man behind the name and thank him personally for all the joy your masterpieces have provided me. Absolutely!!!! David and I have spoken by email years ago, and I must totally agree that David Barnes is the absolute best. No question about that. He has carefully taken the time to be as accurate and precise on all the little nuances of expression. I especially love the early Beatles songs from "Hard Days Night" and "Help!", those are my favorite. What I find amazing is how he was able to pick out every guitar part and instrument, when at the time, the early recordings were only done on 2 tracks. Not an easy task, for sure.

I am one of those who consider music as a twin. I never had a chance to get formal education on music but I could read chords and play some tunes on the keyboard. Four years ago, I learned about MIDI. In fact, I got myself a keyboard, a computer and cakewalk software to explore its possibilities. I have sequenced about 50 Filipino music and continue to learn how to rearrange them. Because I am also one of those who admire the way the Beatles wrote, sang, played, recorded and produced their music, I searched on the web their MIDI files. I stumbled upon your files. I MUST say, you got the best. In fact, when I exercise my voice with the Beatles' songs, I use your file as my accompaniment. I put down the volume of the melody track, of course through the cakewalk, and presto... I got an accompaniment the way John, Paul, George, Ringo and, of course, George Martin played their track.
Thank you for sharing your MIDI files with the Beatles fans. I got your e-mail address. I might send you some mails to inquire about the tricks on MIDI sequencing.

David- I have been following your work since you first posted your MIDI files. I have also followed your forever changing links. Strangely, I am a dentist who lectures around the country about using computer applications and other technologies in dentistry. I use many of your MIDI files as background in my lectures. Your site is linked on my web pages- if you go to the web site mentioned above, and go to "links for dental professionals and lecture attendees", you will find your link under the beatles graphic. I am also the technology editor of the largest magazine in dentistry ( Dental Economics) and my site is referenced in every issue. Of course, my background is in music, having played in bands since the 60's, primarily guitar, but some keyboard work. I've visited this site before, but haven't been here in
a while. I clicked on through Norma's site. I can see that
you are still sequencing and enjoying it. I've slowed down a bit, but get the bug every once in a while.
Norma,TGLHowie, and I did a sequence together back in the
earlier nineties (94 or 95) called "have you ever really loved a woman" by Brian Adams. She has it on her site.
